If you’ve never hired a mural artist before, you may be wondering what happens when I show up to paint. Here is a quick run through on what you can expect during your mural installation.
Before I Arrive
The mural process begins long before I even show up! We will collaborate to finalize a design and timeline. Here is what to expect for your mockup.
Day One of Painting
I will arrive promptly with all the supplies needed for the project in my trusty minivan that my husband affectionately calls the “Mural Mobile.” The first day will be focused on prep work like masking, priming, or transferring the design to the wall. I will put drop cloths on the floor to protect the area from any paint spills.
The Painting Week
Murals are painted in layers, and often there is an. “Ugly middle.” Don’t fret! Large masterpieces take time. I will paint the background and solid shapes first. Afterwards, I will paint the finishing details.

Watching the Mural Come to Life
I love seeing my client’s reactions as the mural evolves. Feel free to stop by, ask questions, or check on the progress throughout the project. I want and encourage your input! This is your mural after all.
With That being said, I once painted in a retired couple’s living room while they sat on the couch and watched me all day like I was their favorite TV show. It was extremely nerve-racking. Definitely peek in, but I also need some pace to work.

Can my business be open while the artist is painting?
Yes! I work carefully around customers and staff whenever possible to minimize disruptions as my painting area does not take a lot of space.
The Final Walkthrough
Once the mural is complete, we’ll do a final walkthrough together.
