I recently completed a mural for the Papillon Enrichment Center in Willoughby, Ohio. The owner’s family has a deep emotional connection to the word Papillon, which means butterfly in French. The term holds special significance in their family, as it dates back to an uncle who passed away in battle. He had owned a store named Papillon, and the family has carried on the name to honor his legacy. Today, Papillon is a daycare for young children in Willoughby, Ohio.
To follow the butterfly theme, I designed a fun yet educational mural for the children. Complete with an infographic, the mural illustrates the different stages of a butterfly’s life. Children can explore and hunt for the chrysalis tucked among the leaves or spot the butterflies in flight. Can you find the all the stages hidden in the mural?
